The Fabulous Thunderbirds perform their signature blues rock sound at City Winery Nashville, with Kim Wilson presenting a tribute to Chicago blues.
The Fabulous Thunderbirds play City Winery Nashville on Sunday, November 8, 2026, with co-founder Kim Wilson also presenting A Tribute to Chicago Blues as part of the night. The show is on the venue's Main Stage.
For more than 30 years, the T-Birds have been a quintessential American band, their sound a hybrid of blues, R&B and rock 'n roll that produced barnburners like "Tuff Enuff" and "Wrap It Up." Kim Wilson is the sole original member still at the helm. He took up the harmonica at 17 in Goleta, California, and met Jimmie Vaughan in Austin, Texas, where the two founded the group in 1974. Muddy Waters called him his favorite harmonica player and vocalist.
The band signed with CBS/Epic Records and released a self-titled debut in 1979. T-Bird Rhythm, produced by Nick Lowe, and the 1986 album Tuff Enuff—which landed in the film Gung Ho—marked their commercial peak. Wilson's tribute is a homecoming to the Chicago blues that shaped him, drawing on the legends he played alongside as a teenager. He's playing it with no set list, letting the crowd set the pace.
