Four members of the Blair School of Music faculty perform an evening of jazz at Rudy's Jazz Room.
The Blair Jazz Trio plays Rudy's Jazz Room on Friday, October 16, from 5:30 to 7:15 PM. The group brings together four faculty members from Vanderbilt University's Blair School of Music, each balancing a professional career in performing, recording and touring with teaching the next generation of musicians at the school.
On piano is Pat Coil, who has toured Japan, South America, Europe and the U.S. with artists like Michael McDonald, Carmen McRae, Olivia Newton-John, Amy Grant, Vince Gill and Woody Herman, and has appeared on The Tonight Show, Arsenio Hall and Conan O'Brien. Tenor saxophonist Dan Hitchcock draws on the romantic tenor styles of Stan Getz, Ben Webster and Lester Young. Bassist Rob Linton has toured with Eric Reed and Greg Tardy and has taught at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Gardner-Webb University and the University of Tennessee. Drummer Marc Widenhofer was a featured artist at the 2012 Taichung International Jazz Festival, performing with the JB Trio and saxophonist Greg Osby.
