Live music event featuring the experimental rock group LaMP alongside Russ Lawton, Scott Metzger and Ray Paczkowski at Eastside Bowl.
LaMP are playing Eastside Bowl on Saturday, October 17, as part of The '58. They're sharing the bill with Russ Lawton, Scott Metzger, and Ray Paczkowski, so it's a full night of music rather than a single act.
LaMP is an experimental rock group from Chicago that mixes electronics with oversized guitar sounds and frenetic vocal work. It started as a home-studio collaboration between David Curtin and Chris Ash, and from there it grew into a five-piece band, with Aaron Cauble, Maxwell Beckman, and Abe Vucekovich joining the lineup. Their self-titled EP is their first studio work to document that newer sound, so if you're coming in fresh, that's the record to start with.
Between the electronics, the heavy guitars, and the vocals, the sound is built around contrast—the electronic side pulling one way and the guitar another, with the vocals working on top of it all. It's a Chicago band playing in Nashville, and the EP gives you a good sense of where they're at right now.
