British band Temples perform live at Cannery Hall in Nashville, Tennessee.
Temples are playing Cannery Hall on Tuesday, December 8, at 7 PM. The British band formed in Kettering, England, and they're touring their fifth album, BLISS, which they've described as a move into electronic territory while staying true to their core DNA.
That DNA is a blend of late-'90s dance music's euphoric, melancholic melodies and psych-tinged riffs and loops. The lead single, "Jet Stream Heart," is built around the feeling of being drawn into music, while "Vendetta" pairs scuzzy riffs with lasering synths and dance melodies. If you've followed them from the start, you'll recognize the psychedelic guitar work they've always leaned on, but BLISS pushes it toward the dance floor.
On stage, it's the same four-piece that's been the core of the band: James Bagshaw on vocals and guitar, Thomas Walmsley on bass, Adam Smith on keyboards and guitar, and Rens Ottink on drums. They're the ones who have carried the name through five albums, and they're the ones you'll see at Cannery Hall.
