Acoustic rock duo Smith & Myers bring intimate storytelling and songwriting to the historic Ryman Auditorium.
Smith & Myers play the Ryman Auditorium on Friday, December 18, with Brian Dunne opening. The duo is Brent Smith and Zach Myers, both members of the multiplatinum rock band Shinedown, stepping back into an acoustic format to reimagine chapters of the American songbook alongside their own originals. The set leans on stripped-down acoustic arrangements across acoustic, alternative, and hard rock.
This isn't a side project they just pulled together for a few dates. The pair released the double album Smith & Myers in two parts, Volume 1 and Volume 2, produced by GRAMMY Award-winning producer Dave Bassett. That followed the acoustic cover EPs Acoustic Sessions, Part 1 and Part 2 back in 2014, so they've been working in this acoustic mode for over a decade.
As half of Shinedown, Brent and Zach have sold over 10 million albums and 10 million singles worldwide, racked up 16 number-one rock hits, and hold the record for the most number ones on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Songs chart with "Atlas Falls." This show strips that sound down to its bones, with the two of them on acoustic guitars and the set drawing from both the American songbook and their own writing.
