Singer-songwriter Ridge Banks performs live at The Local in Nashville, blending acoustic guitar styles with modern rhythmic flair.
Ridge Banks plays The Local on Friday, November 6, at 5 PM. He's a singer-songwriter from Fenton, Michigan, who now calls Nashville home, and he's performing solo.
Banks describes his style as the 'Rugged Acoustic Movement,' a label he coined for the way he blends the fingerpicking of Jim Croce, John Denver, and Eric Clapton with the rhythmic flair of Ed Sheeran, John Mayer, and Tommy Emmanuel. He works extensively with alternative tunings, so the guitar does a lot more than just hold up the melody—it's a good part of the performance. He left a career in healthcare to pursue music full-time, released his debut album in November 2018, and was named a finalist for 'Best Male Artist' at the 2021 International Acoustic Music Awards.

His most recent single, 'One Note at a Time,' came out February 9, 2024, and features the UK extension of his original quarantine garage band, Ridge Banks and the Wall of Sound. That's a different beast than the solo set he'll be playing here, so if you've only heard the record, the live show is a different way in. The set is just Banks on guitar and voice, and it starts at 5 PM on Friday, November 6, at The Local.
