Quichenight performs its new album Waterville & Surf at The 5 Spot, with opener STARGURL.
Quichenight is playing The 5 Spot on Tuesday, October 13, for the release party of the new album Waterville & Surf. The set will draw from the new record, and STARGURL opens the night.
Quichenight is the long-running recording project and live band of Nashville songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Brett Rosenberg. His style blends sixties pop hooks, playful guitar, offbeat humor, and deeply personal lyrics. He started making esoteric full-length tapes in his Saratoga Springs bedroom in the 1990s, moved to Boston in the 2000s where he formed the power-pop band The Brett Rosenberg Problem and toured as a guitarist with Graham Parker and The Figgs, and finally settled in Nashville in 2007, releasing the first Quichenight tape in 2011.
Since then, he's worked across the city's music scene. He was lead guitarist for Pujol from 2012 to 2018 and has produced or played on outside projects like Jasmin Kaset's Tuxedo and Angela Autumn's viral hit "Electric Lizard." The project itself is described as hooky, homemade, and occasionally unhinged, drawing comparisons to R. Stevie Moore with a tighter pop sense or Big Star if they'd owned a Tascam. Waterville & Surf opens with "Saratoga," a track noted for its guitar hook and bass line.
