A 50th anniversary laser show of Pink Floyd's The Dark Side of the Moon, produced by the Sudekum Planetarium using the Skylase FX system.
The Dark Side of the Moon is coming to TPAC – James K. Polk Theater on Friday, October 9, as a laser show produced by the staff of the Sudekum Planetarium. It's a presentation of the album in its entirety, timed to a laser light show that runs alongside the music. The show marks the 50th anniversary of the record, and the planetarium staff put it together to let people see and hear the album in a way they haven't before.
What makes this one different from a standard laser show is the gear behind it. The production runs on the planetarium's new Skylase FX system, which brings faster laser scanning, optical special effects, and brilliant beams to the screen. The faster scanning means the lasers can move more precisely and quickly across the room, and the optical effects add layers to the visuals that you wouldn't get from a basic setup. It's the kind of thing that's easier to see than to describe, but it's the core of what the Sudekum team is bringing to the theater.

If you're planning to bring the kids, it's recommended for ages 10 and older. The show runs from 3:30 PM to 4:15 PM, so it's a late-afternoon thing rather than a night out. Tickets are $11 for non-members and $7 for members, and the theater is at 505 Deaderick Street in downtown Nashville.
