Blues and soul concert by the Pat McLaughlin Band with special guests Kenny Greenberg, Greg Morrow and Steve Mackey.
Pat McLaughlin brings his band to 3rd & Lindsley Bar and Grill on Friday, October 16, with Kenny Greenberg, Greg Morrow, and Steve Mackey joining him on stage. It's a blues and soul night, and the lineup puts together some of the city's most seasoned players.
McLaughlin is a singer, songwriter, and guitarist from Waterloo, Iowa, with roots that stretch across San Francisco, New Orleans, Chicago, and Nashville. He's spent years as a songwriter for other artists, with his songs recorded by Bonnie Raitt, Alan Jackson, Taj Mahal, Trisha Yearwood, Al Kooper, Nanci Griffith, Josh Turner, Shawn Camp, and Don Williams. Gary Allan recorded his "Songs About Rain," which earned McLaughlin a BMI Country Award.
He's also a high-demand studio musician. His signature guitar "chunking" has appeared on projects by Jamie Hartford, Rosanne Cash, Julie Roberts, and Neil Diamond. Engineer David Ferguson called on him to play acoustic guitar on the final Johnny Cash recording sessions, and he's a frequent collaborator of John Prine. In 2006 he released Horsefly, which he co-produced with Kenny Greenberg—who's one of the musicians joining him for this show. Rolling Stone called him "a tasty, rootsy gem."
