A feature puppet presentation for all ages at Shelby Bottoms Nature Center; no registration required.
Shelby Bottoms Nature Center is hosting a puppet show on Thursday, October 15, from 10 AM to 10:30 AM. It's a short, half-hour presentation, and they've made it clear it's for all ages, so it works just as well for a toddler as it does for someone who just wants to spend a morning in the park. No registration is required, which makes it an easy one to drop into without planning ahead.
If you haven't spent much time there, the center is run by the Nashville Metropolitan Board of Parks and Recreation. It sits inside the more than 950-acre Shelby Bottoms Greenway and the 336-acre Shelby Park in urban East Nashville, so there's plenty of room to wander before or after the show. Inside, you'll find natural and cultural history exhibits, an organic demonstration and teaching garden, a Cumberland River Compact rain garden, and a children's Nature Play area. Trails run all around the building, and the whole place serves as a natural history and education reference center.
That educational side is a big part of what they do. The center offers free public nature and environmental education programs, school field trips, volunteer opportunities, and programs for Girl and Boy Scouts. The puppet shows are part of that mix, aimed at all ages. The center describes itself as a place to learn that we are part of nature, not apart from it.
