A jazz trio featuring Eddie Barbash, Jeff Picker and Mark Raudabaugh reimagining fiddle tunes as jazz standards.
Nashville Trio plays Rudy's Jazz Room on Monday, November 9, from 6 PM to 8:15 PM. The trio is made up of Eddie Barbash, Jeff Picker, and Mark Raudabaugh, and the set is built around two different ways of looking at the same songbook: fiddle tunes are reimagined as jazz standards, and the classic jazz songbook is crooned with old soul.
Each member brings a different set of credits to the stage. Eddie Barbash has played alongside Cory Wong and Jon Batiste. Jeff Picker is a double bassist, bass guitarist, composer, and bandleader who The Willamette Week called the 'designated bassist to the stars' and who tours as a member of the platinum-selling, genre-bending bluegrass band Nickel Creek. Mark Raudabaugh comes from Sierra Hull. Together they're three Nashvillians playing jazz in a way that pulls from both the city's bluegrass roots and the jazz tradition.
