Free live performance by classical guitar duo Duo Sudeste of South American composers at the Café Cheeserie in the Frist Art Museum.
Duo Sudeste play the Frist Art Museum on Thursday, October 22, from 6 PM to 7:30 PM. The performance is part of the Music in the Café series, which brings live music into the museum's Café Cheeserie. It's a casual setup: you can listen while you have dinner, some light bites, or just coffee and tea.
Duo Sudeste is a Nashville-based guitar duo made up of Robert Thompson and Joey Butler. Both are classical guitarists, and they formed the group back in 2008 when they decided to combine their classical training with a shared love of Latin music. They've spent the years since building a repertoire focused on South American composers, and they describe their sound as blending the relaxing calm and the fiery soul found in Latin American music.
They keep an active concert schedule and have been featured on radio shows in Nashville, Dayton, Ohio, and St. Louis, Missouriâand even in Brazil. The set is built around that South American focus, so you'll hear the classical guitar used to carry Latin rhythms rather than the standard European repertoire.
