Mat Kearney performs an intimate In The Round session at The Bluebird Cafe, accompanied by John-Luke Carter and Trent Dabbs, following the release of his album 'Hanging by a Heartstring'.
Mat Kearney is playing The Bluebird Cafe on Wednesday, October 21, in a show he's calling In The Round. He won't be alone on stage; he's bringing along John-Luke Carter and Trent Dabbs for a night of songs and stories at the venue that raised him.
The timing is the main thing to keep in mind. The show comes just over a month after the release of his seventh studio album, Hanging by a Heartstring, which dropped on October 9. Kearney describes the record as a love letter to Nashville and an honest reckoning with the road behind him, filled with what he calls "southern furniture" and the playing of legendary Nashville session musicians. The In The Round format gathers him and a group of friends for an intimate night of songs and stories at the venue that raised him, so it's a homecoming in more than one sense.
If you're not already familiar with him, Kearney is a multi-platinum indie singer-songwriter and producer who's put out seven studio albums, topped several Billboard charts, and landed four songs on the Hot 100, with more than 2.63 billion global streams. He's performed on TODAY, Ellen, The Tonight Show, Letterman, and Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and has toured with artists like John Mayer, Lady A, Train, NEEDTOBREATHE, Judah & the Lion, Mutemath, and Owl City.
