Late-night jazz session featuring saxophonist Don Aliquo and pianist Marc Payne at Rudy's Jazz Room.
Don Aliquo and Marc Payne are playing Rudy's Jazz Room on Saturday, October 17, as part of the Legend Meets Brilliance series. It's a late-night set, running from 11 PM to 1 AM, so it's more of a midnight outing than a dinner-and-a-show kind of night.
Don Aliquo is a fixture in the Nashville jazz scene, and he's been at it for more than two decades. He works across the board—saxophonist, composer, recording artist, and educator—and he's well known around the city. Marc Payne is a Nashville native and one of the younger players whose work is helping keep the city's jazz scene moving. Together they bring what they describe as a "no holds barred" approach to the music, and that's exactly what the Legend Meets Brilliance series is built around: pairing an established name with a rising one.

It's a late-night fixture at Rudy's, and the logistics are worth keeping in mind if you're planning to go. The kitchen stays open until 12:30 AM, so there's plenty of time to eat before the set winds down. The room fills on a first-come, first-seated basis, so if you want a good spot, you'll want to get there early. The music runs from 11 PM to 1 AM on Saturday, October 17, at Rudy's Jazz Room in Nashville.
