Concert by Kirby Lyle, a Nashville-based folk and Americana singer-songwriter, within the In The Round with Anchored Artists series.
Kirby Lyle plays Margaritaville Restaurant on Friday, October 23, as part of the In The Round series presented by Anchored Artists. He's a Nashville-based multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter whose work sits at the intersection of folk, alternative, and Americana.
There's a lot of ground behind the music. Lyle is a classically trained cellist and an operatic tenor with a background in show choir, and his career goes back more than thirty years. He spent over a decade as a mainstay of the Chicago folk scene and has performed at venues like Carnegie Hall and the Cathedral of Notre Dame. That mix of formal training and folk tradition is a good way to get a sense of where he's coming from.
More recently, Lyle has been open about a personal shift: he embraced sobriety in 2021. Following that, he released his second solo EP, Change Is Hard, which he describes as a protest album. He's also spoken about music saving his life, and that sense of things being on the line comes through in the songs. The In The Round format puts him center stage, so you'll hear him handling the instruments and the singing himself.
