Kathryn Rose Wood

Kathryn Rose Wood plays Urban Cowboy Nashville on Monday, October 12, starting at 7 PM. It's not a solo headlining show in the usual sense, though. She's part of the quarterly 'Love Your Neighbor' showcase, which brings together around nine artists on one bill and gives each of them three songs to play. If you've never caught a showcase like this, that's the format: a handful of songwriters sharing the stage, each getting a short set rather than a full hour. It's a good way to hear a few different voices in one night without having to commit to a whole concert for every act.

Wood herself is a songwriter, musician, and clinical healing professional based here in Nashville, originally from New Orleans. She describes herself as a chocolate fiend, a mindfulness enthusiast, and a strong Enneagram 8. That last one is a bit of a personality shorthand—the Enneagram 8 is the Challenger, known for being assertive, direct, and protective. Between the healing work and the songwriting, there's a fair bit of ground to cover in three songs, so it'll be interesting to see which side of that she leans into for the night.

Since it's a showcase, you'll get to hear her alongside several other artists, each playing their own three-song set. It's a rotating cast, so the lineup changes from one showcase to the next. If you're already familiar with her work, it's a chance to hear her in a shared setting; if you haven't, it's a low-stakes way to get a feel for her songwriting without needing to know the whole catalog beforehand.

The show is at Urban Cowboy Nashville, 1603 Woodland St, and it starts at 7 PM. Entry is free, but it's a 21+ event, so bring your ID.
