Country music concert by Kashus Culpepper at The Bluebird Cafe, featuring self-penned stories and a blend of country, soul, blues and folk.
Kashus Culpepper plays The Bluebird Cafe on Tuesday, October 20, at 9 PM. He's an Alabama-born country singer who pulls from the sounds of the South — country, soul, blues, and folk — and delivers them with a husky, sandpaper growl over stories he writes himself.
Culpepper first found his voice singing in church when he was five, but it took the 2020 pandemic to turn him from listener to performer. While on Navy deployment in Rota, Spain, he picked up a guitar and started playing cover songs at bonfires. When he returned home, he took that to the dive bars up and down the Mississippi Gulf Coast. From there, he's sold out headline club shows throughout the South without ever formally releasing a single, and has opened for artists like Charles Wesley Godwin, Charley Crockett, and NEEDTOBREATHE. He eventually found a home at Big Loud Records and put out his first single, "After Me?"
