John Oliver brings his sharp wit and award-winning comedic perspective to the historic Ryman Auditorium in a live stand-up performance.
John Oliver is playing the Ryman Auditorium on Sunday, December 27, 2026, at 8 PM. If you've only known him from your TV screen, this is one of those rare chances to see him do stand-up in person.
Most of us recognize him as the host of HBO's Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, the show that's earned him Emmy and Writers Guild of America Awards. But long before that, he was a correspondent on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart from 2006 to 2013, and he spent two months guest-hosting the show in 2013. Before that, he starred in his first stand-up special, John Oliver: Terrifying Times, hosted four seasons of Comedy Central's John Oliver's New York Stand-Up Show, and co-hosted the satirical podcast The Bugle with Andy Zaltzman until 2015.
When he's not on the show, he returns to the stage, playing sold-out rooms worldwide. Since 2023, he's been performing alongside Seth Meyers in a monthly residency at New York's Beacon Theatre, so this Nashville date is a bit of a departure from his usual New York run. He's a British-American comedian, writer, producer, political commentator, actor, and television host, and this is him back in the stand-up mode he's kept up alongside the TV work.
