Concert by Hunter Root, a multi-instrumentalist blending acoustic rock, folk and grunge, at The Basement.
Hunter Root plays The Basement on Sunday, October 11, with doors opening at 8:30 PM and the show starting at 9 PM. He's a Pennsylvania-based multi-instrumentalist who grew up in a classic-rock household, where his older brother first introduced him to the guitar and songwriting. He was also a founding member of the psychedelic rock outfit Medusa's Disco.
His sound pulls from a few different places: acoustic rock, folk, and grunge, all with a 60s psychedelic and surf rock flair. Over time, he's shifted from a lyric-centric way of writing to a music-first approach, and he handles the whole process himself—writing, recording, mixing, and producing all his albums. His 2023 album, Arkansas, was written as a tribute to his older brother, who died in 2020. Two songs from that record, "Town Rat Heathen" and "Quicksand Sinking," found their way onto TikTok and Instagram and went viral, bringing in millions of Spotify plays.
