Concert by the Guthrie Trapp Trio, a guitar instrumental act from Nashville, at The 5 Spot venue.
Guthrie Trapp Trio plays The 5 Spot on Wednesday, November 4, at 6 PM. It's an instrumental set from one of the guitarists Nashville has been talking about for a while now.
If you're not familiar with Guthrie Trapp, his 2012 solo album Pick Peace is a good place to start. It pulls from a wide range of styles—country, blues, Latin, reggae, jazz, rock, and experimental music—and it's the kind of record that worked as much for his own bands as it did for the superstar artists he's supported. That versatility is a good indicator of what he brings to the table: he's a player who can move between genres without losing his footing.
The trio format keeps things focused on the playing, and the set is instrumental, so the guitar does the heavy lifting. With the 5 Spot being an East Nashville spot, it's a straightforward night of music in a room that lets the instruments breathe. If you've followed his work since Pick Peace, this is a chance to hear that same range live.
