Live performance by the Gilla Band, led by singer-songwriter Dara Kiely, with support from Annie-Claude DeschĂȘnes at the intimate Third Man Records venue.
Gilla Band play The Blue Room at Third Man Records on Friday, November 13, with Annie-Claude DeschĂȘnes opening. The show is presented by Third Man Events.
They're touring their fourth album, Pugnello, which came out September 25 via Rough Trade Records. It's the fourth record from singer-songwriter Dara Kiely, and he describes it as an attempt to document everything that's happened in his life since 2022's Most Normal. The songs pull from childhood distractions bleeding into adult routine, grief, obscure footballers, Bible references and, in his own words, general silliness. The title comes from a haunted font in one of his uncle's horror novels, and the artwork is Kiely painting over deliberately bad tour photographs.
The Blue Room is an intimate space at Third Man's Nashville headquarters, historically reserved for live performances, film screenings, poetry readings and art shows, and now open to the public weekly on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings. You can get craft cocktails, local brews and pretzels from Fatbelly, lounge in the cornerless blue interior, relax on an outdoor patio and use a vintage dip 'n dunk photobooth. Regular programming includes live music, trivia, dance parties, guest DJs, art exhibitions and 16mm film screenings.
