Indie rock band Fruit Bats performs live with special guest Sarah Klang at The Basement East in Nashville.
Fruit Bats play The Basement East on Wednesday, November 18, with Sarah Klang opening. Fruit Bats is the moniker of Eric D. Johnson, a singer-songwriter whose work over a 25-year career has usually been the product of patience and fine-tuning. That changed with his 2025 solo outing Baby Man, which he recorded over two weeks using the morning pages technique of stream-of-consciousness songwriting. He then returned to the studio with his band to record The Landfill, a 2026 album on Merge Records that he calls his most collaborative to date.
That band has spent more than a decade building Fruit Bats into one of the most in-demand live acts in indie rock. On The Landfill, Johnson worked with David Dawda on bass, Josh Mease on guitars and synth, Frank LoCrasto on piano and synth, and Kosta Galanopoulos on drums. The show is 18 and up, with Sarah Klang opening the bill.
