Chicago indie rock band Friko performs live in Nashville, supported by Nine Perfect Lives, presented by Third Man Events.
Friko play The Blue Room on Friday, October 30, with Nine Perfect Lives opening. The show is presented by Third Man Events, and it's an all-ages night.
Friko is a Chicago indie breakout whose sound pulls from noise-rock, avant-garde classical, and 70s symphonic balladry. Their debut landed on Pitchfork's best-of-year lists and earned them an NME cover, and they've toured globally since then, sharing bills with The Flaming Lips and Modest Mouse. That mix of noise-rock and symphonic balladry is a good way to get a handle on what they do: the noise-rock brings the grit and the volume, the classical side adds a certain structure and ambition, and the symphonic balladry is where the melody and the big, open moments come through. It's a wide net to cast, and that's exactly why they've stood out.
They're playing The Blue Room, which holds 350 people, so it's a relatively small room for a band that's been playing larger stages on tour. Nine Perfect Lives open the night, and the whole thing is all-ages, so you can bring whoever you want.
