Industrial metal band Fear Factory and Mushroomhead co-headline the Souls of a New Machine tour, with guests Nine Treasures and Sicksense.
Fear Factory are playing The Basement East on Wednesday, November 11, as part of the Souls of a New Machine tour. They're co-headlining with Mushroomhead, and the bill includes guests Nine Treasures and Sicksense, so it's a full night of heavy music rather than a single band. Doors open at 5:30 PM, and the show starts at 6:15 PM.
Fear Factory came out of the Los Angeles thrash scene in the early 1990s and helped define industrial metal, mixing staccato riffs, industrial-tinged drums, electronic flourishes, and a scream-and-sing vocal dichotomy. Their 1992 debut, Soul of a New Machine, introduced the sound of cofounders Dino Cazares and Burton C. Bell, with Raymond Herrera on drums. The 1995 album Demanufacture went Gold, and the band later toured with Black Sabbath, Slayer, Iron Maiden, and Metallica, appearing at three Ozzfests. The 1997 remix album Remanufacture featured a then-29-year-old Thomas Holkenborg, better known as Junkie XL. Later concept albums include Obsolete (1999), which drew on the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, and Digimortal (2001).

After a split in 2002, they reunited in 2010 with Mechanize, followed by The Industrialist (2012) and Genexus (2015). Their tenth album, Aggression Continuum (2020), brought back the classic lineup. On June 23, they released RE-INDUSTRIALIZED, a remastered version of The Industrialist with new artwork, live drums, and six bonus tracks. The tour title, Souls of a New Machine, points back to that 1992 debut, and with Mushroomhead sharing the bill, the night is built around two industrial-leaning acts rather than one. Doors open at 5:30 PM, and the show starts at 6:15 PM.
