Country music singer Emily Ann Roberts performs at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, with special guests Jordan Davis, Lauren Alaina, Chris Janson and Henry Cho.
Emily Ann Roberts takes the stage at the Grand Ole Opry House on Tuesday, September 1, at 7 PM. She's not playing alone: Jordan Davis, Lauren Alaina, Chris Janson, and Henry Cho are all on the bill, so it's a full night of country rather than a single set.
If you're not familiar with her, Roberts is a Tennessee native who grew up on Smoky Mountain music and country artists from every era, from Loretta Lynn and Dolly Parton to Miranda Lambert and Cody Johnson. She first made a name for herself on Blake Shelton's team on The Voice before she'd even graduated high school, finishing as a runner-up. Since then, she's played the Opry stage 16 times, racked up more than 19 million streams, and was named one of Rolling Stone magazine's Best Acts of CMA Fest. She works with producer Trent Willmon and says songwriting has become a means to an end: she writes so she can perform the songs.
That's a good way to frame her place in the lineup. With Davis, Alaina, Janson, and Cho sharing the bill, the night pulls from a few different corners of the genre, and Roberts sits right in the middle of itβEast Tennessee roots, a Voice background, and a career that's built on the Opry stage. It's a long way from the Smoky Mountain music she grew up on, but that's exactly the kind of lineage the Opry is built for.
