Traditional country music session with Chris Scruggs and The Stone Fox Five at Skinny Dennis.
Chris Scruggs & The Stone Fox Five are back at Skinny Dennis on Sunday, October 11, for another night of traditional country. They've been playing Sunday nights in Nashville since 2012, and this is part of that long-running residency. The band took its name from The Stone Fox, the West Nashville venue that hosted their original weekly shows; the Country Sunday nights now call Skinny Dennis home.
It's a deep lineup. Musician's Hall of Fame inductees Chris Scruggs and Kenny Vaughan both play here, and both are members of Marty Stuart's Fabulous Superlatives. They're joined by Billy Contreras, Caleb Boese, David Tanner, Jared Manzo, and Grace van't Hof. That's seven people on stage, and they've been at this together for over a decade.
They don't just play on Sundays. The group also stars as regulars of Honky Tonk Tuesday at Eastside Bowl in Madison, and on Friday nights they follow the Friday Night Opry on 650 WSM, where they host Friends and Neighbors with Chris Scruggsāa fifteen-minute throwback to live radio that showcases mid-century styled Country and Western music. Between the Sunday residency, the Tuesday night spot, and the Friday radio show, they're one of the more consistent country presences in the city.
