Electronic music performance by Bayonne, featuring live looped soundscapes, accompanied by multi-instrumentalist Bad Snacks.
Bayonne plays The Blue Room on Saturday, October 17, with multi-instrumentalist and producer Bad Snacks opening. The show is presented by Third Man Events at The Blue Room, Third Man Records' live venue in downtown Nashville, and it comes to celebrate his new album, Filters.
Bayonne is the moniker of Roger Sellers, an American minimalist composer and electronic musician based in Austin, Texas. He spent years recording and performing under his own name, putting out three albums before adopting the Bayonne name when Primitives was re-released on Mom + Pop/City Slang in 2016. Since then, he's become known for building complex, looped soundscapes live, layering sounds on top of one another until they fill the room. That's a good way to think about how he works: he's a composer who builds his songs in real time, so the live show is where the recording really opens up.
Filters is the latest record, and this stop is part of the tour celebrating it. If you've followed him from the early days, you'll recognize the same attention to detail and looping that defined Primitives and the albums that came after. The set will lean on the new material, and with Bad Snacks opening, the whole night stays in that electronic, producer-led territory.
