Concert by singer-songwriter Audrey Adams at the Silverbelly Whiskey Distillery & Alan Jackson Museum in Nashville.
Audrey Adams plays Silverbelly Whiskey Distillery & Alan Jackson Museum on Tuesday, October 13, at 10 AM. It's a morning set, so if you're usually a late-night gig person, you'll want to adjust your clock for this one.
Adams is a singer-songwriter and recording artist who splits her time between Greenwood, South Carolina, and Nashville. She grew up teaching herself her favorite Beatles tunes by ear and has been making music ever since, whether writing her own songs, composing a full-length original musical, or gigging around the upstate every weekend. She was signed to Audio 316 records, Anderson University's newly-formed label, and released her first single, "I Wonder Why," which she debuted at the Bluebird Cafe. A stint as a studio technician intern in Nashville followed, and her song "My Defense," co-written with Jonathan Bell, landed on the NSAI Top 40 Playlist.
She writes country music, and the names she cites as influences—Paul McCartney, Carole King, and Bob Dylan—give you a good sense of where she's coming from. Those are songwriters who built their careers on strong melodies and storytelling, and that's the same tradition she's working in. If you're into country that leans on the songwriting side of things, that's exactly what you'll find here.
