A vocal workshop for ages 10-14 inspired by The Sound of Music, led by TPAC teaching artists.
Arts Adventure: A Few of My Favorite Things is a vocal workshop for kids ages 10 to 14, happening at the Johnson Theater on Saturday, October 24. It's part of the Arts Adventure series run by the Tennessee Performing Arts Center's Education & Community Engagement department, and this particular session takes its inspiration from The Sound of Music.
If you're not familiar with how these work, Arts Adventure workshops are built around the themes of TPAC's favorite shows and stories. TPAC teaching artists lead the way with interactive activities that build a few different skills at once: responding to cues, choreography, and vocal technique. Because this is a vocal workshop, the focus stays on the singing side of things—healthy singing habits, breath support, blending, harmony, and musical expression—with the chance to sing together as an ensemble. It's less about a solo performance and more about how a group of voices fits together.
The workshop is aimed at kids ages 10 to 14, and since it's run by TPAC's education department, it's designed as a learning session rather than a performance. Caregivers are welcome to attend and observe free of charge, so you can hang out and watch while they work. Registration goes through UltraCamp.
