If you've been looking for a reason to bring your dog downtown, the Tennessee Titans and Tito's Handmade Vodka have a pretty obvious one. On Tuesday, October 27, the fifth annual Titans, Tito's, & Tails Dog Day takes over the South Plaza at Nissan Stadium from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. CT, and this year it comes with a Halloween theme.

For a $5 ticket you can buy online, the evening is built around the dogs. There are free treats and gifts for them, activities for both pets and their owners, pet-friendly vendors, and a Halloween Costume Contest with prizes in three categories: best human and dog costume combo, best group costume, and most creative. For the humans, Tito's cocktails and food trucks round out the bill. It's the kind of event that's easy to drop into after work, especially since it's only a few hours long and stays in one spot.
There's a real purpose behind the ticket, too. Proceeds go to Old Friends Senior Dog Sanctuary and New Leash on Life, and since it started, the event has raised more than $51,000 for organizations focused on dog welfare. Old Friends, based in Mount Juliet, provides lifetime homes and care to over 500 senior dogs, taking in the ones that are nearly or totally unadoptable because of age or disability. New Leash on Life works on shelter, placement, spay/neuter, education, and awareness. It's a low-cost way to support two local animal welfare groups while giving your dog a night out.
A few logistical notes before you head down. Parking lots h, k, and r on the north side open at 4:00 p.m. CT, and the south plaza west gate opens at 5:00 p.m. CT, so there's a bit of a window to get settled before the gates open. The stadium itself is at 1 Titans Way, 69,143 seats, and it's the home field for the Titans, who are currently 0-5-0 and sitting fourth in the AFC South under head coach Robert Saleh. Tito's is the team's official vodka sponsor, a multi-year deal that includes a branded South Concourse space serving craft cocktails and a "Tito's Turnovers" initiative that donates to the Titans Foundation for every turnover the team causes, up to $25,000 a season.
Whether you're coming for the costume contest or just to let your dog burn some energy at a stadium, it's a simple, family-friendly plan for a Tuesday evening. Grab a ticket online, pick out a costume for you and your dog, and head down to the South Plaza on the 27th. Between the free treats, the cocktails, and the money going to senior dog care, it's a win for everyone involved.
