If you have never had Nashville hot chicken, Hattie B's is the obvious place to start, and their newest location is the one worth the trip. The East Nashville spot at 1206 Gallatin Avenue opened in July 2026 and is the largest restaurant the chain has built to date, which is saying something for a brand that now runs 13 locations across Tennessee, Georgia, Texas, Alabama, and Nevada. The whole idea here is a gathering space rather than a quick counter, and it leans hard into that: there is a front area, a patio, and a back garage shed complete with a bar, pool and arcade games, and plenty of tables.

The menu is built around heat, and there are six levels to choose from. On the milder end you have Not spicy / Southern, Everyday, Mild, and Medium. Once you cross into the Enthusiast levels, things get serious with Damn Hot!! and the top-tier Shut the Cluck Up!!!TM. You can get that heat on jumbo tenders or wings, and the sides are where the meal rounds out. Pimento Mac & Cheese, crinkle-cut fries, bacon cheddar grits, southern greens, baked beans, red skin potato salad, creamy cole slaw, black eyed pea salad, dirty bird fries, fried pickles, and waffles all come in, with a good number of them marked gluten-free. For dessert there is banana pudding, peach cobbler, floats, and ice cream, and the bar pours beer, ICEEs, and a range of cocktails.
What sets this location apart from the others is the space itself. The back garage shed, with its bar and games, turns a chicken dinner into something you can linger over, and the whole place is set up to be family-friendly, which is not always the case with hot chicken joints. It is the kind of spot that works as well for a party of six as it does for a casual dinner, and the staff has earned a reputation for being knowledgeable and helpful when you are trying to navigate the heat levels.
If you are planning to go, a couple of practical notes are worth knowing. Parking can be tricky on Gallatin Avenue, so it is worth leaving a little extra time to find a spot. Gift cards are redeemable for dine-in, take-out, or online at all locations except Las Vegas and the Belle Meade spot, so if you have one tucked away, it will work here. And if you are still on the fence about the heat, the medium tenders are a safe middle ground that most people land on. With the bar and the games in the back, it is less of a quick bite and more of a place to settle in for the evening, which is exactly what the East Nashville location was built for.
