The Metropolitan Opera's stage production of Manon, presented as part of The Met: Live in HD series, broadcast live from New York to Minneapolis.
Showcase Cinemas in Minneapolis is bringing Manon to the big screen from Saturday, April 3, through Wednesday, April 7, as part of The Met: Live in HD. It's a production of the opera by the Metropolitan Opera in New York, beamed straight from their stage and projected into theaters here in the city.
If you're not familiar with the series, it's the Met's award-winning cinema program, and this season marks its 20th anniversary. The whole point is to bring world-class opera to theaters across the country, so you can see a full production without having to fly to New York. They don't just run the performance, either—the broadcast pairs the opera with special interviews and behind-the-scenes features, and they program encore screenings of each transmission so you can catch them more than once if you want to.
Manon is one of eight live opera transmissions scheduled for the 2026-27 season. Along with those, the season includes several encore screenings, three popular encores from past seasons, and a special presentation marking twenty years of the Met in cinemas. It's a full slate, so Manon is just one part of a larger calendar of broadcasts coming to the screen throughout the year.
