Exhibition by Halle Rittgers at the TractorWorks Building in Minneapolis.
Halle Rittgers opens a new exhibition, The Eccentric & The Ordinary, at the TractorWorks Building on Thursday, October 22. It's a solo show, and the title gives you a fair idea of where she's playing: the tension between the strange and the everyday, the kind of things that usually sit on opposite sides of a room but end up sharing the same space.
If you're not familiar with her work, this is a good place to start. Rittgers is a Minneapolis artist, and this is her work showing in a Minneapolis building, so it's a local production through and through. The show runs from October 22 all the way through January 10, which means you've got plenty of time to swing by—whether you want to catch it on opening night or wait until the winter settles in and you're looking for something to do on a random Tuesday in December.
Because it stays up for nearly three months, there's no rush. You can see it once and then come back a few weeks later when the light in the city has shifted, and it'll feel like a different show. That's one of the better things about a long run like this: you don't have to cram it into a single weekend. You can take your time with it.
