Third annual juried group exhibition of work by Minnesota artists aged 18 or over, in which no piece is larger than 12 inches.
The Big Tiny Show is running at Kolman & Reeb Gallery in Minneapolis from October 3 through November 7, 2026. It's the third annual juried group exhibition at the gallery, and it gets its name from the one rule that defines the whole thing: no single piece of art can be larger than 12 inches. That's it. As long as it fits within that small footprint, it's fair game.
Gallery co-founders and partners Anita Sue Kolman and Jodi Reeb opened the call to all media types and expressions, and the result is a wide variety of work. You'll find oil on canvas alongside fiber arts, wire sculptures, pine needles, and artificial sinew. Because the only constraint is size, the show pulls together established and emerging artists from across Minnesota, who were invited to submit their most inspiring, controversial or breathtaking pieces. It was open to any Minnesota artist aged 18 or over at any stage of their career, so you'll see work from people who've been showing for decades hanging next to those just starting out.
That mix is part of the appeal. When you strip away the usual distinctions of medium and career level, the only thing that really matters is how each artist handles that 12-inch limit. Some might lean into the intimacy of a small scale, while others try to pack as much as possible into the space. It's the kind of show where you'll find yourself stepping close to the wall to catch the details on a tiny canvas, then moving on to something completely different in the next frame.
