Free opening reception for the juried exhibition of works by twenty-one artists from four International Sculpture Center national chapters.
Slices and Shadows opens at the Regis Center for Art on Wednesday, October 21, with a reception from 6:00 to 7:30 PM. It's a juried exhibition featuring twenty-one artists from four International Sculpture Center national chapters: Boston Sculptors Gallery, Chicago Sculpture International, Pacific Rim Sculptors, and Texas Sculpture Group. The show runs through November 14 in the Quarter Gallery, located at 405 21st Ave S in Minneapolis.
The title comes from the science of human vision—the way the brain takes slices of light and turns them into shadows of depth and form. It's a fitting frame for a show that pulls sculpture from across the country into one room. The International Sculpture Center is a member-supported nonprofit with chapters in four geographic regions, dedicated to the creation and understanding of sculpture and its contribution to society.
This particular exhibition is part of the 32nd International Sculpture Conference, which returns to the Twin Cities for the first time since the organization was founded in 1960. While you're there, you can also see a concurrent exhibition of Minnesota-based sculptors in the Katherine E. Nash Gallery, so there's sculpture to see in two different spaces within the same building.

The reception is free and open to the public. If you can't make it on the 21st, the Regis Center for Art is open Tuesday through Saturday, 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM, though outside of reception hours it's accessible by U-Card only. The show runs from October 13 through November 14, so you've got a few weeks to catch it.
