Holiday concert spectacular by the Twin Cities Gay Men's Chorus with the Bells of the Lakes handbell ensemble and audience participation.
The Twin Cities Gay Men's Chorus brings Slay Bells Ring to Orchestra Hall on Sunday, November 22, with two performances that day—one at 1 PM and another at 5 PM. It's a holiday concert that starts with the timeless traditions you'd expect and then turns them gloriously upside down, and the whole thing is built around audience participation. They're calling it a "bring your own bells" (BYOB) show, so you're encouraged to bring your own bells along and join in.
Sharing the stage is Bells of the Lakes, a premier Twin Cities handbell ensemble that's been playing since 1996. Their programs blend classical masterpieces, contemporary arrangements, and seasonal favorites, and this is the fourth time they've performed with the chorus. Together, more than 160 voices sing live, and audiences have described the result as campy fun, visually stunning, and thoroughly entertaining. The 1 PM performance includes ASL interpretation.

One thing to keep in mind: while the show is at Orchestra Hall, the Minnesota Orchestra doesn't perform on this program. The chorus and the handbell ensemble are the only ones on stage. If you're planning to go, you've got two times to choose from on Sunday, November 22: 1 PM and 5 PM, both at Orchestra Hall, 1111 Nicollet Mall in Minneapolis.
