Shoegaze trio Prize Horse play New World in Minneapolis with support from Graham Hunt and Another Heaven.
Prize Horse play New World on Wednesday, October 21, with Graham Hunt and Another Heaven opening. It's a home-city show for the trio, who've built their name here in Minneapolis as a shoegaze act that balances a dreamy, atmospheric side with a heavier, more intense one. They're touring North America right now, and this is one of the stops on that run.
If you're just getting caught up, their full-length debut Under Sound came out on the small label New Morality Zine, and it's the record that put them on the map. Since then, they've moved to Closed Casket Activities, a larger label that specializes in heavy hardcore, which gives you a good sense of where they're heading. The new material is already leaning that way: their latest single, "The Big Picture," is the first song written for their upcoming record, and it dates back to 2023. It's darker and heavier than anything on Under Sound, and it closes with one of the heaviest sections they've ever written.

So the set should pull from both ends of the arcβthe dreamier, washier sounds of the debut and the heavier, more direct stuff they're working on now. Graham Hunt and Another Heaven open the night, and the show starts at 7 PM at New World.
