The Met: Live in HD broadcast of the opera Otello, streamed from the Metropolitan Opera in New York to cinemas nationwide.
Otello comes to Minneapolis on Saturday, April 25, as part of The Met: Live in HD, the Metropolitan Opera's series of live cinema transmissions. The screening is one of eight live opera broadcasts in the 2026-27 season, which is also the series' 20th anniversary season. The Met broadcasts its New York stage productions to theaters nationwide, and this one is no exception.
It's not just the opera itself. Each live screening includes special interviews and behind-the-scenes features that you won't see during a regular performance. The full 2026-27 season is a mix: eight live transmissions, encore screenings, three popular encores from past seasons, and a special presentation marking 20 years of the Met in cinemas. Every live screening is followed by encore presentations, so if you can't make the first one, there are more dates to choose from.

For context on the series, the Met's Live in HD has been bringing world-class opera from New York to local screens for two decades now. It's a way to see a production that would otherwise require a trip to the East Coast, with the added bonus of the close-ups and interviews that a seat in the house doesn't give you. Otello is one of the live broadcasts this season, and it's showing in Minneapolis on Saturday, April 25.
