The Tony and Olivier Award-winning musical Operation Mincemeat brings its farcical spy caper to the Orpheum Theatre as part of the Broadway on Hennepin Series.
Operation Mincemeat plays the Orpheum Theatre from January 26 to 31, 2027, as part of Hennepin Arts' Broadway on Hennepin series. It's a Broadway musical based on a true story from 1943: a secret mission that helped turn the tide of World War II, involving a stolen corpse, a fake love letter, and the involvement of Ian Fleming. The show is billed as equal parts farce, thriller, and Fleming-style spy caper.
Critics have described it as Singin' in the Rain meets Strangers on a Train and Noel Coward meets Noel Fielding, with a style they've likened to a mix of Mel Brooks, Monty Python, Hamilton, and Austin Powers. It won the 2024 Olivier Award for Best New Musical and the 2025 Tony Award for Best Musical, and Entertainment Weekly named it the #1 Broadway Show of 2025, calling it the best-reviewed show in West End history with 88 five-star reviews. Over 2,000 performances worldwide have built a fervent fanbase that calls itself the 'Mincefluencers'.
The musical was written by SpitLip—David Cumming, Felix Hagan, Natasha Hodgson, and Zoë Roberts—and is directed by Robert Hastie, with choreography by Jenny Arnold. The Minneapolis run is part of the show's North American leg.
