Free blues and soul night with Minneapolis artist Mark Joseph at The Star Bar & Bistro.
Mark Joseph plays The Star Bar & Bistro on Wednesday, October 28. He's a Minneapolis artist who calls his style 'American Soul,' a label that's served as a loose map for his work since his 2017 album of the same name. From there, he's pulled from blues, country, psychedelic rock and gospel, letting each one take a turn in the spotlight.
His fourth full-length album, Palisade Peach, is the one he describes as a blues album in the truest sense. He built it on familiar 12-bar strains, the kind of structures that echo the march of American music from the rural South up the Mississippi to cities like Minneapolis and Chicago. It's a record that looks back at those roots while staying firmly in the present.
