Annual art show with gallery opening and open studios at Kickernick Gallery, featuring local artists and art-inspired fashion.
Kickernick Gallery hosts its annual fall art show, Artful Inspiration, on Thursday, October 22, in downtown Minneapolis. It's a single evening dedicated to the city's artist community, and it usually draws more than 1,000 people who come to meet the makers and buy art directly from them. The night is split into two parts: an opening reception from 5 to 6 PM, followed by open studios from 6 to 8 PM.
This year's edition takes the idea of art as something you can wear. Five local creatives, including Jordan Carpenter, have been paired with featured Kickernick artists to create looks inspired by their work. Guests are invited to turn up in art-inspired dress themselves and compete for local prizes, with Saeteesh and Patricia hosting on the red carpet. It's a night that asks you to do more than just look at art—you're encouraged to dress the part and get involved.
The lineup of artists includes Shawn McNulty, Mark Kuhn, Lisa Nebenzahl, Francene Christianson, and William Greer, among others. The open studios part of the evening is where you'll find them: you can walk through the gallery, see the work, and talk to the people who made it. If you've been following any of these names, it's a good chance to see their latest in person; if you're new to them, it's a way to get a sense of their work and buy a piece directly from the source.
