The Minnesota Orchestra, conducted by Jason Seber and with the Minnesota Boychoir, plays John Williams' score from the film Home Alone in a live-to-picture concert.
The Minnesota Orchestra is bringing Home Alone to Orchestra Hall this December, with the full score performed live-to-picture. It's a four-show run: Friday, December 11 at 7 PM; Saturday, December 12 at 2 PM and 7 PM; and Sunday, December 13 at 2 PM. The whole thing runs about two hours, intermission included.
If you've seen the movie, you know the music. John Williams wrote the score, and that's what the orchestra is playing—live, in the room, synced up with the film on screen. Joining them is the Minnesota Boychoir, the oldest continually operating boys choir in the Twin Cities, which adds that specific choral sound to the mix. Conductor Jason Seber leads the ensemble.
As for the movie itself, it's the one we all know: Macaulay Culkin stars as Kevin McCallister, an eight-year-old boy left behind when his family flies to Europe for Christmas vacation. It's rated PG, so it works as a family outing. Hearing the score played live changes the experience—the music isn't just in the background; it's happening right in front of you.

It's a good time to catch the orchestra in their home. They're now in their second century and rank among America's top symphonic ensembles. Danish conductor Thomas Søndergård began his third season as music director in September 2025, so the group is well into his tenure. The concerts are at Orchestra Hall, 1111 Nicollet Mall, Minneapolis, MN 55403, with the four dates running from Friday evening through Sunday afternoon.
