Exhibition exploring colour, hue and mood with a vibrant roster of artists at Groveland Gallery, including Hank Rowan masterpieces.
Groveland Gallery opens Eyes Wide Open on Saturday, October 24, with an opening reception from 2 to 5 PM. The show brings together a roster of artists for a bold, joyful exploration of color, hue and mood, moving across the full spectrum from saturated jewel tones and electric neons to deeper, moodier shades. It's a group exhibition, so you'll see a variety of voices working with the same central theme.
Part of the show is drawn from the gallery's own archives: a robust selection of Hank Rowan masterpieces. Rowan's work has a long history with Groveland, and these pieces come from the gallery's permanent collection rather than a new acquisition. The rest of the roster fills out the spectrum, so you'll find the bright, high-contrast work alongside the more subdued tones.
The timing is a bit of a wink at the season. The gallery describes the show as an invitation to lean into color at full volume just as Minneapolis heads into its darker, colder months. It's the kind of thing that makes sense in October, when the city starts to gray out and the days get shorter.
