Annual group exhibition celebrating skate culture, with custom skate decks as canvases and artwork available to buy.
DROP IN is on view at Modist Brewing Company through October 23, 2026. It's a large group exhibition that takes the skate deck and treats it as both a canvas and a collectible, with a whole room of custom boards on display.
The show has a bit of a history behind it. Modist first called on the Twin Cities art collective Rogue Citizen to curate the original version back in 2017, which was an impromptu, wild event that matched the brewery's early energy and the X-Games atmosphere taking over the city at the time. After a successful update in 2023, this year's edition sees the Otherworldly Arts Collective joining forces with Rogue Citizen. OAC is a fine arts group that puts together thematic multimedia group exhibitions in collaboration with independent artists, designers, non-profits, and local businesses.
By now, the show has become an annual Twin Cities staple. Cal Surf provides the custom decks, and the artwork is available to buy, so you can take one home if you see something you like. It's a good way to see how a handful of artists can take the same object and run with it in completely different directions.
