Indoor concert of the University of Minnesota Marching Band, 'The Pride of Minnesota', with its autumn halftime favourites and a special appearance by Goldy Gopher.
The University of Minnesota Marching Band is back at Northrop for its 65th annual indoor concert, with two performances: Saturday, Nov. 14, at 7 PM and Sunday, Nov. 15, at 2 PM. The band, known as 'The Pride of Minnesota,' is one of the oldest collegiate bands in the country, with a history that goes back to its first halftime show in 1910, when it first staged the 'Block M' formation. Since then, it's played the Super Bowl halftime show twice, most recently alongside Justin Timberlake.
This year's indoor concert works through the autumn halftime favorites and keeps the 'Rouser' alive, with the band's mascot, Goldy Gopher, making an appearance. More than 320 members strong, the ensemble is led by directors Dr. Betsy McCann and Dr. Emmanuel Rodriguez, with drum major Charlotte Baker at the front. MinnPost has called them 'the unsung heroes... of the sports calendar.'
