Twelve Vultures is a vintage and antique shop at 507 E Hennepin Ave #507B, in the Northeast Minneapolis Arts District, also known as the St. Anthony East neighborhood. It is owned by collector Adam DeJarlais. It's a shop rather than a museum, so everything on display is for sale, and the focus is on natural history specimens, curiosities, and collectibles. The space is about 2,000 square feet, with a black corrugated metal roof and hanging chandeliers.

The stock is wide. You'll find taxidermy animals, skulls (roe deer, sika deer, and toucan, among others), bones, specimen jars, fossils such as ammonite, eggs from emu and ostrich, shells like cone snail, and selenite spheres. There are also steampunk-style gears, clockwork mechanisms, old industrial machine parts, religious sculptures, old photographs, and photo slides. Some of the more unusual pieces mentioned are a giant taxidermy lion, a wax figure of John Wesley Hardin in a Victorian viewing coffin, a duck with the head of a baby, and a 1970s preserved fetal cow. There is also a witchy display with vials, tiny old books, and a pinned-up Voodoo doll. At one point, the shop listed a small crab floating in formaldehyde for $6.
Customer reviews point to reasonable prices, ethically sourced items, and helpful staff. They also mention a good selection of bones, bug-related taxidermy, skulls, religious artifacts, and candles. The shop works with local makers. Micro Mayhem, a Minneapolis miniaturist and insect taxidermist, has been part of the shop since February 2023. Art by Shuggie offers illustrations and digital art from a Minneapolis artist. Grim & Gold makes jewelry in bronze and silver, shaped like bones, skulls, and vertebrae, and handmade in Minnesota.
The shop also runs insect pinning workshops. The Orb Weaver Workshop - Globe costs $85.00, the Harlequin Beetle Pinning Workshop $125.00, the Clearwing Butterfly Pair Pinning Workshop $95.00, the Greater Death's Head Hawkmoth Pinning Workshop $95.00, the Five-Horned Rhinoceros Beetle workshop $95.00, and the Shining Leaf Chafer Beetle Pair Pinning Workshop $85.00. All supplies are included. Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Sales are final, and payments are refunded only if a class is cancelled because of an emergency or weather.
The shop is open Thursday through Sunday from 12:00 to 5:00 PM and is closed Monday through Wednesday. There is no parking lot, so you'll need to use metered street parking. Shipping costs are included in the item prices. Orders go out with UPS, USPS, or FedEx, whichever is cheapest, and processing takes up to 3 days. Delivery usually takes 3 to 5 business days. The shop ships only within the continental U.S., not to P.O. boxes, and all items are fully insured. Returns are not accepted because all sales are final. For bulk discounts, or to buy, sell, or trade items, you can email adam@twelvevultures.com.
