A darkly magical animated adventure where a headstrong teenager launches a rescue mission into an enchanted forest to save her baby brother.
Wildwood is coming to Odeon Manchester Great Northern on Friday 23 October, with a screening at 1:40pm. It's an animated adventure that takes you into a world that's not quite what it seems, and if you're into dark, imaginative storytelling, this is one to keep on your radar.
The story follows Prue McKeel, a headstrong teenager whose baby brother is abducted by a murder of crows. She doesn't just sit back; she launches a rescue mission into the Impassable Wilderness, an enchanted forest hidden just beyond Portland, Oregon. She's joined by her loyal classmate Curtis Mehlberg, and together they navigate a world of talking animals, bandits, and powerful figures driven by grief and ambition. Along the way, they're drawn into a conflict that threatens the forest itself.
It's adapted from the novel by Colin Meloy, which was illustrated by Carson Ellis, and it comes from the makers of Coraline, so you can probably guess the kind of atmosphere it's aiming for — a bit eerie, a bit magical, and not afraid to lean into the darker side of things. The voices are provided by Peyton Elizabeth Lee as Prue and Jacob Tremblay as Curtis.
