The Weight

The Weight opens at Pearl & Dean Cinemas on Friday 16 October, with screenings at 18:05 and 20:20. It's a historical epic directed by Padraic McKinley, starring Ethan Hawke and Russell Crowe, with Julia Jones also in the cast.

The story is set at the height of the Great Depression. It follows a battle-scarred veteran who's hired to help smuggle a fortune in gold across 100 miles of impenetrable wilderness. The gold, the greed that comes with it, and the idea of freedom are the things it circles back to throughout.

It's a 15 certificate, so it's not one for the younger ones. If you're heading over, the cinema is at 2 Tony Wilson Place, Manchester, M15 4FN, with those two showtimes on Friday evening.
