A camp Halloween murder mystery dinner inspired by the Hammer Horror era, with a three-course set menu and themed cocktails.
The Halloween Horrors is a murder mystery dinner at Pip, in the Treehouse Hotel Manchester, on Friday 30 October. It's a camp, theatrical night inspired by the Hammer Horror era, and it's set around a three-course set menu.
The story takes you back to 1952 in the sleepy English village of Pokeingham-Softly-on-the-Wold. The local mystery novelist Miss Mapletree has just returned from overseas to find the annual All Hallows' Eve Ball taking a sinister turn, following a mysterious case of Pumpkin Poisoning and the infamous Pokeingham Family Curse. The room fills with clues, mysterious characters, and plenty of twists, theatrical moments, and Halloween-themed entertainment. You work out whodunnit across the courses, with themed cocktails available throughout the evening.
It's a dinner and a show in one, so you're eating your way through the mystery rather than just watching it from a table. The three courses are part of the ticket, and there's a welcome drink to start the night. If you're into the campy side of horror — the kind of thing that doesn't take itself too seriously and leans into the theatrical — this is right up that alley. It's a good shout for a group, too, since you'll be piecing the clues together with the people you're sitting with.
