Concert by the alt-rock band Shiva May Care at the Grand Central venue in Manchester.
Shiva May Care play Grand Central on Tuesday 13 October, starting at 7:00 PM. They're an alt-rock four-piece who've been around since 2017, and the line-up is a bit of a map in itself: members from Italy, Hungary, Greece and the UK. It's a fairly international mix for a band playing in a Manchester room, and that's one of the things that sets them apart from the usual local circuit.
Their sound sits at the crossroads of hard rock, punk and prog, and they've spent the last few years working their way through that territory. The set will draw from their newer material, including the single 'Falling Down', which came out on 28 June 2024 as part of their second EP, Sound System Kaliyuga!. That record is where the band's current direction really takes shape, and 'Falling Down' was the track they used to announce a new line-up, so it's a good place to start if you're coming to them fresh.
Between the hard rock and the punk, there's a proggy side to what they do, which usually means the songs have a bit more to them than a standard verse-chorus structure. It's that mix that keeps them from fitting too neatly into one box, and it's the same energy they bring to the stage. With the new line-up in place and Sound System Kaliyuga! out, this is one of the nights they'll be playing through the latest material.
